"Department of History was founded in 1993 and the first graduation from the department took place in 1997. Evening education programme was opened in the academic year of 1994-1995. Our department has tried to renew itself within the bounds of possibility via modern methods and to enrich the knowledge of Turkey in the field of history since the day it opened. The department also has been established with the aim of educating specialists having basic concepts and methods of the writing of history. History is the memory of a nation. By moving out of the idea that societies without memories cannot have any historical and national consciousness, the department of history aims to settle students gain this memory. For that reason, gaining objective national and historical knowledge, learning modern methods in the research of history are the main principles and this is vitally important. Another basic goal of the department is to educate intellectually adequate researchers who specialize in the field of history and are able to make academic publishings and comments about historical subjects. In this context, in addition to the undergraduate program, master and doctoral programs are also carried out. Graduates of our department have opportunity to find jobs particularly in the private and public schools, universities and various institutions. So they may work in vocational areas as teachers, academicians, archivists and researchers. "
