Mathematics and Science Teaching

Department of Mathematics and Science Teaching has established with the Department of Science Education in 2013 and started accepting students in the same academic year. The aim of Department of Science Education is to educate individuals who are able to provide appropriate education opportunities by considering the needs and developments in our country and the World, possess knowledge of the field, contribute to the development of science, use educational technologies effectively, be the scientific literate, have critically and analytical thinking skills, contribute to professional development, propose appropriate solutions for the problem that encountered, follow innovations and to open for them, act purposefully, have broad vision and adopt scientific thinking and working style. In the undergraduate courses of the Department of Science Education, there are field courses (physics, chemistry, biology), education courses and elective courses. Together with the undergraduate courses, innovative methods, techniques and theories are provided to the prospective teachers. Particular attention is given to practice in the lessons on the basis of learning by doing and hands on. Department of Elementary Mathematics Education has established in 2018 and started accepting students in 2019. Our mission is to educate elementary mathematics teachers who have full confidence in the approaches, methods, and techniques of elementary mathematics teaching. Süleyman Demirel University Elementary Mathematics Teacher Education aims to educate professionals who have the technological pedagogical content knowledge and general cultural knowledge at the national and international level in the field of mathematics education.
