The Mining Engineering Department at SDU was established in 1987 and began to education and training in the same year as a part of Akdeniz University, Faculty of Engineering at Isparta. With the establishment of Süleyman Demirel University in 1992, the Department continues to its activities as a part of Faculty of Engineering. The department has three major research fields; Mining systems, Mine mechanization and Technology and Mineral Processing.
