Social Services and Consultancy
"The nature of human relations in the modern society requires professional help and support to overcome the problems faced by individuals or families. The number of disadvantaged people is increasing day by day due to the conditions they live in, their personal characteristics or other reasons. This situation raises the need for qualified personnel to work on issues such as meeting the needs of individuals who need social assistance or support due to its disadvantage, eliminating or minimizing dysfunction. The emergence and development of Social Work as a science and as a profession took place in parallel with this. Social workers / social workers, who are the basic personnel required by social work practices in our country, are trained in faculties providing at least four years of education or equivalent higher education institutions. The training of intermediate staff needed in the same field is carried out in Social Services Associate Degree Programs (Social Work and Counseling Department). Purpose of the Department As an associate degree program, the aim of the Department of Social Work and Counseling is to train social service intermediate staff needed in the private sector and non-governmental sector, especially in the public sector where social services are provided. Title and Field of Study Students who graduate from the Department of Social Services and Counseling are given the title of ""Social Services Associate Degree"". With this title, graduates of the department have the opportunity to work in public institutions, particularly the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and its affiliated units (Kindergartens, Orphanages, Children's Houses, Nursing Homes, Elderly Care Centers, Social Service Centers, Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, etc.). In addition, they can work in private social service enterprises. Again, our graduates can take part in the social service delivery of non-governmental organizations. It is often witnessed that prospective students, families and educators confuse the Social Services Associate Program with the Social Work Undergraduate Program. In line with this determination reached as a result of the data obtained from the students who have been placed in the program, it is recommended that the candidate students who intend to choose the Social Services Associate Degree Program should be careful in this matter: Students who graduate from the Social Services Associate Degree Program are not given the titles of Social Workers or Social Workers. Completing a License It is possible for our students who graduate from the Social Services and Counseling Department to complete the ""Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS)"" and ""Sociology"" or ""Social Work"" undergraduate programs. Internship There is a compulsory summer internship practice in our department and it is 30 working days in total. The summer internship is organized, followed and finalized seriously.
